Bruddah Java, Sure winning records have played a huge part in the decision making by the 870 voters (6 regions = 145 voters) by sports journalist + every former Hesiman winners. But, the Hesiman was founded on the idea of the Most Outstanding Player . Voters have gotten away from that core qualification. Voters must be objective and many times vote for players from their region, BS.
Plus, if there are 2 or more players from a region will dilute the votes and hurt the players. Like the Penix and Nix situation from the same region.
So far there have been 13 Heisman winners from 3 loss teams, 2 from 4 loss, 1 from 8 losses (Paul Hornug, Notre Dame). The link is from 2018, so add in Jayden Daniels, LSU (2023) and Travis Hunter, Colorado (2024) into the 3 loss category. This graphics dispel that the notion Hesiman winners comes from a 0 loss to 1 loss team. 15 Heismans with 2 loss teams. I think lately 2 losses is kinda the ceiling. See the link.
