if the D stays small with 4-5 DB one of your te becomes a fullback and there are large opportunities in the run game.
if the D plays zone the te usually can go sit in front of the safeties. For mid range stuff.
for downfield stuff mostly likely safeties will have to come up on the TE or the back coming out of the backfield and lane and lemon get single coverage deep middle or down the sideline. Usually favorable for USC
Obviously not everything works perfectly every time but this use of 12 formation allows you w the same personnel to run inside the tackles. Pass over the middle and go deep. You can be unpredictable and successful in almost every phase of the game. Oddly it’s as close to a return to old school 70s football we have seen in years.
