KeymasterIf you know George Herman’s history and upbringing that’s not really a surprise

KeymasterCongratulations on your small weiner.
I do happen to know his birthday, it’s February 6. Lou Gehrig’s is June 19. And no I didn’t look either up and no I don’t know the years off hand. I would take a shot and say one of them was 1903. I will guess the other is 1906 but both of those are rabbits out of the hat

ParticipantGotta love the Babe.
Everyone thinks of his hitting but he was also a great pitcher too, in fact the first quarter of his career was on the mound and his first full season with the Red Sox he won 18 games. The next year he recorded 23 wins, led the league in ERA, shutouts and hits per game. His total of 9 shutouts set a record for left-handers that stood for almost half a century.
In 1917, he again dominated in nearly every pitching category with a record of 24-13. Almost incidentally, in the same period he began a run of 29 consecutive scoreless innings pitched in World Series play- a record that stood for decades. Hard to believe how extraordinary this was. Boys straight out of school didn’t just stroll into major league ballparks and start confounding experienced hitters like Ty Cobb and Joe Jackson. He always battled a weight problem because of his love for food and liquor. Couldn’t get enough sex always screwing women not to mention sleeping with the wife of Lou Gehrig who was his best friend. When Gehrig found out that obviously took care of the friendship.
Didn’t know he was an advocate re: integration. ahead of his time.
