Surprising since they recently announced AJ Pruellar and Shildt would be back this year amid speculation they’d quit. Shildt didn’t give a statement so I am not sure why. Perhaps he felt SD was not going to be able to keep the talent they have and it would be hard to stay with the dodgers with a cheaper payroll.
