      Yes, Lyons.    Here’s my theory.

Maiava is playing well.  He’s not athletically electric but he’s playing inside a great offense.  What if he comes back?  If he comes back to USC, Husan Longstreet will leave.  I would bet on that.  If not, then Longstreet becomes the QB, Williams as a true frosh is the backup and Lyons heads off to Mormonville both on his bike and eventually to Provo.

What if he does stay though?  Maiava?  What if Longstreet leaves?  Well at that point, Maiava is the starter next year.  Williams is the backup like Longstreet this year.  Annnnnnnnd I predict that since Lyons is a 2027 recruit and lots can change by signing day 2027, he flips and comes to USC, especially seeing they are headed the right direction.  AND that he would come in as a frosh with a chance to battle for the top signal caller spot.

Remember what I said.  I think USC has to go 9-3 to secure this class.  At 5-1 with a single last second road loss, no recruit is flinching.  Get whacked by 2 TD at ND, and you’ll feel them quiver.  Get whacked by 3 TD at Oregon, same.  Get beat on the road at 25 Nebraska or at home to UCLA?  Uh oh, free fall.  USC has 4 games left this year they could or should lose.  I think they will lose 2 of them.  Which should be enough to secure that class.  And probably build momentum to the next one.  Lose 3-4 of them and watch the wheels come off that wagon.

I wonder if there is anyone USC is after that was or is committed to State Penn, UCLA, likely not Oregon State or OK State.  I forget who else has been fired.

Longstreet “might” take a massive NIL to wait if Maiava stays. That said, he would have to see some major signs for the future, but if he saw so many positives then it likely means Maiava is probably gone. Confusing in a way. CLR does seem to have a way with QB’s so – despite this being the most important position on the team – in some ways I am the least worried about it. Probably overconfident, but I’m more concerned with the LB future and the O Line at this point in time. Can you imagine this team without Gentry? That’s what next year looks like, barring a stud like Curtis coming in. Oh wait, never mind. Maiava going pro would be a good thing, because it means he and SC had a great year and we keep Longstreet. So much to chew on. heck, I’m just taking this season right now one game at a time and not even daring to think of next year. Esp. with this being Notre dame week I can’t think past Saturday, let alone next year.
