Change taking a while to get the users back in the fold. We got most of what we asked for (minus the color scheme) and it’s quiet. The ducks should be showing off their feathers right now. Probably doesn’t help that ucla is having such a poor season and USC just lost their first game in an all too familiar manner. Hopefully things pick up, we don’t want this turning into another Augie board.

The WW is definitely better than before, but still takes some getting used to after decades of the Ortho-green board, then a few seasons of the Wix board.

In terms of Oregon nothing too much to strut our quacking feathers about at this point (we could have just as easily lost the game at Penn State).  I think getting to and winning one game in the playoffs is when I’ll feel like we duckies have a chance and are moving forward…

Regardless, I still am of the opinion the journey still can be (almost!) as fun as the destination…..but please spare the effort and don’t try to convince TEE of that!

Not familiar with what an Augie board is.  Maybe I’ll do some advertising lol

Change is hard for people and this is the fourth board format change in the last couple of years. There were bound to be some folks that didn’t want to jump on board. The last board had that interesting feature where the board displayed user names as they signed on. I noticed a lot names of lurkers that just read and don’t post. Nothing wrong with people just reading, in fact probably smart, since posting just brought on attacks from the wannabe bullies. I don’t mind wrestling in the mud once in a while, mixing it up is part of the fun, but not everyone likes to engage in hostile exchanges.

The Politics board was filled with homogeneous posts (Haha I said homo) that mostly spread misinformation. God bless PT, but seriously. Opposing viewpoints were attacked relentlessly . See Kevin as an example of being attacked by a mob. I feel I was treated kindly there and I appreciate it. I won’t say more about that.
The Wealth board was dominated by a couple of people. Mostly me posting about stuff most of the board gave two squirts of piss about . I will say that I tried my best to make entertaining and informative posts while keeping politics as distant as possible. But I mostly failed at it. I will stand ten toes down that I shared some nuggets that proved to be extremely contrarian and extremely profitable. Java’s contributions there are valuable, RWC is really good but neither matched my volume of posts. I will still post there from time to time as required.
Stock market is shaking off all the trade wars and booshet and still going strong. Let’s go!

But the flagship of the board, the aircraft carrier is the Football board. Bruins disappeared on us because of the struggles in Weirdwood. Waldorf is a big loss. USC is still struggling. The “USC football is dead” schtick is old, tired and well, dead. New blood into the board has been lacking and we have an aging demographic. Free message boards are struggling  across college sports.

Ballss, Kevin wasn’t singled out and attacked by a mob, as you claim.  Kevin walked into a crowded room and started mad shit with anyone he could find, and then was completely thin skinned when he had it thrown back at him.  In fact, most of the people who were ribbed and “contested” started most of the problems themselves, me included.  They were willing combatants, won some, lost some, but I don’t think anyone actually took it too seriously.  At the end of the day I think if anyone on this board (or any previous versions of it) actually needed help in real life, the rest of the board would jump into action.  It was just something to do to pass the time during lunch or work breaks, or escape for a bit.

      That’s a pretty

good summary of things.     Easier to just piss on a fb or ig post these days.  I may develop some ads. Just not sure how to do it

I don’t know that ad’s are necessary or even if they work. The board still has a good nucleus of active members, and a solid number of casuals. USC having some success on the field along with recruiting letter of intent day in December will bring back some folks. And people getting used to the new board. Gotta give it time.

oh I’ve thought about ads for a while. There are a lot of people on Instagram and face chat and wherever that go back-and-forth a lot and they would probably enjoy a forum like this. Besides, I thought it would be fun to add a few people to replace the old folks who died or those who can’t figure out how to make the new form work. Or the snowflakes we ran off

Agree. This board remains alone in its stance for free speech and zero moderation. Us long timers are desensitized to it, but a new person would be like, “ oh shet, you can say anything you want here”. Other posters might jump on you for what you say but you won’t be banned or have your posts deleted. That’s important and it’s valuable.

Start a podcast. I’m not kidding. Once a week. If you have the marketable rights for ‘wild west sports’ you could have a blast, you’ll attract that younger demo, support the board, etc.
