ParticipantWas that a FUN game to watch or what? Maybe a little dull up until the half deadlocked at 3-3…unless you love defense.
Yes, it’s only one game, and there are no guarantees Oregon will even make the playoffs at this point. But despite the misgivings and prognostications from many of our USC and Husky friends here, I think winning that game in one of the most difficult conditions for an away team helps to show…
– Lanning can be a pretty good game-day coach.
– He CAN win a big game….winning the REALLY big one is still very TBD, of course…
– Dante is slowly exorcising his UCLA demons….even leading the Heisman race right about now with Mateer out…
– Oregon assistants might actually not be all about the recruiting to the detriment of the coaching.
– Maybe TEE can now get off of the “Fire Lanning/Dabo Sweeney for next head coach at Oregon” mantra….just maybe….
Games like that one is what College Football is all about….yes, even if my quacks had lost that game, which they absolutely could have.
THIS is why we follow college ball.

Keymasterit was a great game to watch. Seeing Oregon piss away a 17 to 3 lead in about five minutes was pretty unnerving.
James Franklin seems cursed. Even at home

ParticipantPenn State always figures out how to choke on oatmeal.
I am so glad when James Franklin’s nane came up as a candidate for USC it never came to fruition. Coach anyone else’s team but mine.

ParticipantLA Duck, Oregon IMO is the best team in the country. I had trouble getting registered here under my GTrojan user name, so I am now Trojan80, LOL!

LA Duck
ParticipantAgreed about the “loss” of our good friend GTrojan! At least we can still get this lil’ guy back, right, Trojan80: =8•)
BTW for the record I definitely do NOT think Oregon is the best team in the country right now. If this very young team continues to improve AND if it stays healthy, it might become one of the best teams in the nation. Too early to tell just yet IMO. My quacks could have just as easily lost that game at Penn St.

ParticipantI thought Oregon was the best team in the country before this game. So that doesn’t change. That’s the best win of the season for anyone. Super tough environment and showed resilience with the inevitable comeback. I felt Lanning used to get too revved up in close games and stressed out his teams in close contests, e.g. the UW game in 2023. He’s learning how to deal with the high pressure moments. Big test passed.
