  Traveler galloped at the Coliseum for the first time. One of my favorite game day things to see.
  
  vs Georgia Tech, season opener, we lost.
  OHT was there with his grandchild spending his first social security check. Good times.

  Underscore the fact that that was OPENING DAY.
  
  That was the standard in the 60s; the start of the season coincided with the start of classes for the Fall Semester. Subversive things like the quarter system hadn’t been invented yet.
  
  In 1962 I went with a buddy to UCLA’s season opener at the Coli, against Ohio State. It was October 6.
