      Has been impressive. Very

      Josh Kelly

      DE Latu

      Charbonet

      Nico

      New RB Knight

      Sammy O

plus walk on’s becoming AAs like Dulcich and Carson S

USC has zero stories like this except Caleb Williams? But it also costed us 3 years of Jaxson Dart vs two of  “Superman”

one year of Jordan Addison was nice.

Jayden M has been good. Thats a win. But will be a 1st round pick or an All American. Time will tell.

ngl. I’m a little jelly. As much hate as Chip gets man he didnt always miss. And he got a lot out of DTR. Think that was under Kelly?? Chip had a nice year in Columbus a few years ago. Osu seems to miss him??

D Lynn was also a good hire by Bruins actually. Obv still well regarded. Who hired him? Also Chip? Idk.

CLR has been so average for USC. Caleb and Jordan did make some decent music but without them it’s been pretty rough Product on the field, in the draft and with coaching hires

I forgot woody marks and the RB before him!
My bad. CLR has done a very good job on RB transfers.

Actually just about every rb usc has had has been a transfer.

silver is a transfer on the dl.  So was Anthony Lucas.

usc got a transfer rb from Oregon. Great kid.  Stanford.  Good kid.  Marks.  And Jordan.  Though that’s odd what’s happening there.  Oh and the other kid they had last year who also got hurt.

USC has failed on OL transfers.

as you pointed out. Addison and Maiava.  USC has done well.  Oh the safety.  Bishop something.

we’ve had a bishop and a prophet.  Missing a messiah.  Oregon got him. Perhaps we can get a Cardinal or reverend.  Or preacher.

FWIW I was trying to find all conference, all American stars. Not about every position. Just too many bodies and names to do them all.

Pregnon & Bear got poached by Oregon.

        What happened to Virginia kid?

What Virginia kid?  Was that the other rb?  If so he used up his years

Bobby Haskins was the Virginia kid. He started at tackle in 2022 and was pretty good. Never played in the NFL.

There’s a pattern to SC’s hit/miss rate with portal transfers. It varies by position.

RB — very good. Travis Dye, MarShawn Lloyd, Woody Marks, Waymo

OL — Mostly busts. The grad-tackle from Virginia was very good, as was Pregnon. Not much else.

Lockdown corner — either injured all the time or busts. The verdict is still out on Jontez Williams. Did last year’s guy, Harvey, play at all?

DL — name someone who made a difference….for SC.

WR — more good than bad. Addison and Rice were very good. Mario Williams not so much

Specialists — very good. Chittenden looks very good, the punter from ASU was very good.

DL. Anthony Lucas.  Silver and that Michigan state transfer summerljn?  Isn’t he starting?   Helton had a Samoan via Utah who anchored the dl on his rose bowl team

You’re right about Van Sumeren.  I didn’t think Keyshawn Silver did much and Lucas was one of those guys who looked great in a uniform but wasn’t much of a difference-maker.

You guys had that tall LB from ASU that did well, although I think he had some injury issues.

Good call. Slim Jim kid…but not a star. Maybe 2nd team all conference? Or honorable mention.

Eric gentry.  3 year starter. When not hurt.

easy to forget all the transfers.  Also had a lb from ok state who wore 13.  Started two years

It’s suych a crap shoot taking winning coaches from the small conferences. You never know if you’re going to get a Sonny Dykes or Brian Kelley or Luke Fickell or RichRod or Urban or who knows what?

The question, and I don’t know the answer, is whether you have a better chance of success hiring a big winner at a smaller school or a coordinator from a big school who has worked under successful coaches.  I think it’s a crap shoot either way.  If I were doing the hiring, I’d be inclined to hire a coach with a track record as a head coach (like Cignetti or Chesney) over the hottest OC on the market, someone like, say, Paul Hackett.

A lot of the all-time great coaches came from small schools, actually one small school: Paul Brown, Woody Hayes, Bo Shembechler, Ara Parseghian,

Crap shoot? Do away with the portal. It just induces pirates/whores who have no interest in who they are playing for. Pace the indifference of Oregano players.

I’m with you on the portal.

Some day we’ll have a season in which SC and UCLA traded their entire rosters from the year before.  When that happens, do I root for the uniform or the players?

Actually, I thought UCLA looked a lot better than OK yesterday.

They had a ton of problems on offense though, that needs to be cleaned up if they want to keep the trajectory.
