And they were playing the long game with this very uninspired 4-0 start.

      Hope springs eternal.

Saving grace is that it’s a home game. What a difference when we travel. Granted Oregon not on the East coast, but jeepers.

As of the 2026 season, Lincoln Riley is 5–14 (.263) against AP Top 25 opponents at USC, with a 2–5 mark over the last two seasons against Big Ten competition. Yuck

Now I know why I am so frustrated about USC football.
      That is crazy!!
      Thanks for clearing that up.

keep in mind he had Caleb Williams for two of his 5 years

Keep in mind you all hated Helton and said the program was in a pit.  Then usc stupidly fired him 2 games into the season and let the program dangle for an entire slate of games.  Lost a whole recruiting class.

Should have  fired him end of previous season if they had doubts. Or just bit the bullet to November.  USC has fired 3 coaches in a row mid season. Early season.  And ruined 3 recruiting classes.  That’s tough to overcome when you’re already not winning at the clip you want.  Pissing away 3 recruiting classes in what.  8 years time?  Crazy

Helton had to be fired and yes, they waited too long. Well, he never should have been hired to begin with. That was the type of hire that maybe made sense when we brought Kiff in – maybe. Keep a clean image and ride out the sanctions. Doesn’t give Riley too much of an excuse, not in year 5.

Any coach who does that shouldn’t be coaching at USC.
