Yeah, funding was a problem and a worry for me every year. My senior year I had to shoestring loans together. First Interstate Bank loaned me $2500 on a last second move I made. Dude I was so grateful. Took me 6 years to pay my loans back but I would do it again. Totally worth it and would do it again. Going to USC was a great experience that paid off long after I left campus.
Btw, your LA Times story was good. I remember long boring summers as a kid that were made less boring by the LATines. At 11 I remember buying the Times in the morning and starting with the sports page. Reading about the Dodgers and spending a long time with the box scores. I couldn’t believe how much newspaper I got for 10 cents. Good times.
