KeymasterWho is they? Oregon or USC?
oregon played a D1 team with 80 new players, on the road, and failed miserably.
They now get Portland High School at home.
They will have no comparables to USC on grass in LA

ParticipantSorry do not agree with the AP poll.
From my eyes, my Top 10. UGA, Miami, LSU, Texas AM, Ohio St, Texas, ND, Bama, USC, Indy. On da bubble for #10, Ole Miss, Penn St, Iowa… Cheers
OK, many of you will say how come I put Ohio St over Texas? Shoot, Ohio St should have won da game, but Choked big time. Ohio St is the better team.

ParticipantSorry, man, the rules don’t allow you to put Ohio State ahead of Texas, especially if your rationale is “Ohio State should have won” or “Ohio State is the better team.” You’ve made the game meaningless by subordinating the objective outcome to your subjective opinion. I agree Ohio State should have won; they had a big lead and they were in control. A team truly better than Texas would not have given up that lead.
There were no outside forces at play that affected the outcome. Ohio State didn’t get robbed or anything, they threw away what should have been a stress-free win.
Might as well say the same thing about the boxer who’s ahead on points and gets knocked out. “Well, he’s the better fighter and he should have won, so let’s let him keep the belt.”

ParticipantBruddah, what rules are you talking about? Polls are not rules, they are humans giving their opinions. But how do they come up with their rankings? Do these people see most of the FB games and teams, I say nope. Lucky if they see 2 games on Saturday. I get to see 8-10 games = 16 to 20 teams (by switching a lot, ok I’m not seeing minute by minute plays but I’m get to see teams play).
My post is about not agreeing to the AP ranking poll (opinion). I have my opinion by having seen these top teams play (so far 2-3 games). You stated an argument, but it has not changed my mind and my top 10 team list in ranking order. And, I firmly believe Ohio St is the better team and #5. They Choked in the 4th Qt, dat mental breakdown does not make Texas the better team. Reality Texas pulled out a W, dat’s it. And, Texas ain’t the #1 team in the country, No Way Jose. They have problems in da D and a little bit on O (Shaky QB & R game).
Eh, no pilikea Brah, it’s always good talking story with you & sharing our personal views. As always appreciate your feedback and thoughts.
PS. The boxer analogy cracks me up. Nah, Ohio St did not get knocked out, they loss by 1 freaken pt, shoot da the clock ran out. In da history of team and individual sports, teams & players lose in a close game/match and it always points to a mental break down (choking, bad nerves & heavy legs, missed plays, bad decisions, stupid shots, unforced errors, etc).
Cheers

Splat Shot EddueParticipantAwesome, imagine if you started the season against 6 straight high school teams instead of just 4, you would be ranked in the top 8!

ParticipantAfter giving more thoughts on my top 10; I took out our beloved USC and added Ole Miss. After the Louisiana game, USC D is Jackal and Hyde.
Here’s my revised Top 10 team, teams I feel are playing the best FB so far. UGA, Miami, LSU, Texas AM, Ohio St, Texas, ND, Bama, Ole Miss, Indiana . The next 4: Penn St, USC, Utah, Tennessee… Cheers

ParticipantPre-season I did not think they were gonna be good without C. Kiffin, but their O is one of the best in nation. I was impressed with their close, but high scoring game vs Louisville, 41-38. And, how physical they were. Maybe top 10 is a stretch, but dat game left a big impression on me. Ole Miss is a very good FB team, heck they are 2-0. Guaranty, they are gonna give the SEC Big Boys a hard time and may upset one or two… Cheers

ParticipantPolls are always entertaining this time of year but in reality nothing more.
Oregon just 2 weeks ago was ranked #2 in the nation. Today #21 after just two games. And you watch after they beat Portland St 59-10 the Ducks will move up.

LA DuckParticipantWell, not quite Oregon’s “Super Bowl”. But it will be interesting to see if my quacks hang it up for the season and get utterly destroyed at the Coliseum…..or if they still have some quack in their beaks.
My money is on hanging it up….unless something extraordinary happens in that locker room between now and Sept 26th.
BTW I think being #21 is quite generous. I would vote Oregon out of the Top 25 at this point if I had a vote….lol!

ParticipantAs you already know, your team is loaded with talent. Loaded! IMHO, it’s your players who cover up some of the Ore coaching deficiencies. I believe it’s coaching that keeps your team from completely dominating most of your games.
So the Ducks will get “destroyed” at the Coli in two weeks? Nonsense. I’d personally be happy with a 1 point win. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if USC drops this one. This will definitely be a close game. Anything is possible, but I don’t see a blowout either way.
Last thing- those two WRs, Stewart and Moore are unbelievable. I hate the matchup of those two dudes with our DBs. Nightmares

ParticipantAgree Brad. We have problems in our secondary, especially over the top. I don’t know if that can be fixed because I think its a talent issue. As in speed. I think it was Oregon WR Moore with the dropsies against Okie State. We need him to do that gain. Repeatedly.
One thing for sure Coli will be rocking

ParticipantOur nickels have a problem in coverage. We’re actually fairly good at CB, but safety…. Pierce is not making plays in coverage, nor is he doing anything up in the box. Missed tackles, lost in coverage. Urlacher is good in the box, not so much in coverage. Might be time to get a youngster in there. Haven’t kept up with recruiting like I did in the past, so not sure who might step in/step up.
I didn’t watch all of the Ore game, but what I saw from Moore in just over a season, and Stewart for a couple of games, wow. Both will be high NFL draft picks. Super super talented.
