Maiaiaivaa’s separated shoulder and Moseley’s knee sprain could use the extra time to heal for the Oregon game.

It’s freaking Rutgers. This is a bad football team. They got boat raced by Umass. Unimpressive vs Boston College.

Bring em if you need em, but as of now Sc’s backups will get the job done. sc

I agree sc, if both your assessments are fact. Won’t happen though re Maiava IMO.

One player has to play to pad their stats.  Maiava is a Heisman hopeful and needs to put up solid QB stats. Yep, agree with Mosley let him rest up; C. LR has plenty Wr’s to take over…  Cheers

Funny Butkus, I’ve been having a related discussion in my house for the last two days.

“The other QBs in the conference are playing non league cream puff teams right now and padding their stats.”

Oh boo hoo. Your job is to
lead the offense down the field with a goal of scoring every time. You help your team win football games, period. Thinking about personal stats is a distraction. Make plays, score and win fb games.

So glad they don’t have a Heisman trophy like trophy in HS. But I get it. A unbelievable opportunity for the player, and very beneficial to the school. Just annoying when I see/hear players placing a priority on personal stats

Edit: so to my point. If Maiva needs to sit against Rot, then sit. CFB playoffs > personal stats

Bruddah I hear you and your thoughts are valid.  But, come on you played dis game, unless something is broken, we played hurt or banged up.  Man in my time dat’s what we did.  For 4 years, as a RB played games with sprain ankles, bruised arms, shoulders, stingers, sore knees, bruised thighs, sick with a bad cold, high fever.  Never missed a game.  Dat’s the culture of FB.  Maiava looked gimpy, trying to shake and loosen his shoulder, but he has a chance to win da Heisman.  Dis type of opportunity happens to only to a few players with top stats on a weekly basis.  Maybe I’m being selfish.  But, I would love to see Maiava win da Heisman trophy…  Cheers

No, I hear you. I did not know the severity of the injury, but to me he didn’t look right. I’m trusting the medical trainers will advise staff, who in turn will make the right call. All I’m saying is I hope they are thinking first and foremost about his health for the entire season. No doubt the Heisman trophy is a really big deal, I just don’t think it will be doing him a favor if they think there’s a good chance the throwing shoulder will worse if he gets hit. He will get hit if he plays on Saturday, so it’s just a question of where he’s at physically on Friday night/sat morning…. And how did he feel in practice this week…. Can the shoulder get to 90% + if he sits? He most likely won’t win the HT if the inj lingers all season. We shall see.

        1. Win games

        2. Everything else

throwing a football is like a golf swing. everything needs to be working to throw it at a high level. Maiiavvaiiavvva was forcing the ball , grimacing the whole time.

everyone (except those that never played like sanka ) could tell that Maiiaaivaia didn’t have the zip, sailed and floated the ball, and wasn’t his usual self. STill better than most. But you could tell he had to think about it. A pitcher that starts aiming.

There are three ligaments that hold the clavicle down . He has a tear in one of them.

no way to fix that with mechanics or pt. It needs time to heal.

Of course you can always inject it. But for Freaking Rutgers? Please. sc

Cute. I’ve forgotten more about throwing.  Pitching.  Than you will ever know.

From Yardsbarker.  Following the Trojans’ Week 2 victory over Louisiana, the signal caller was speculated to have been wincing due to a shoulder injury throughout the game. Maiava made sure to set the record straight about his injury status.

“Its a physical game, its what happens,” Maiava said. “Gotta get up and play the next play … Yeah, I’m great.”

Right on, dat’s Old School thinking, he’s my kind of a FB player.  Gotta admire his courage and grit.  Tuff young Bruddah…  Cheers
