UCLA lands OT Aidan Ray out of TX

Boom!!! Ray committed to UCLA over offers from USC, Baylor, Kansas St and Houston. USC offered Ray a week or two ago but were too late to the game.
Ray gives UCLA their 4th OL in the 2027 class.

“This trip was the best trip I have taken, from the start to the end I had an amazing time,” Ray said. “I love how the coaching staff is so close and have such an amazing relationship with the players and among themselves. It was truly something special.”

To celebrate after informing the staff, Ray jumped into a pool with UCLA offensive line coach Chris Smith, assistant offensive line coach Stone Mannello and player personnel assistant Trey Lane.

“That just felt so unreal and that was 100% the highlight of my trip,” Ray said. “Also, going bowling with the other recruits and current players was so fun!”
What UCLA likes about Ray

The measurables of the 6-foot-6, 301-pounder stood out to Smith and the Bruins in the recruiting process.

“I have an 86-(inch) wingspan that most people don’t have so that’s one thing, but he told me that my broad jump is what he really liked,” Ray said. “He said that broad jump is important to them because it shows my explosiveness. The 1-on-1 meeting was great! He told me the interview process for the NFL and how he prepares his guys for that. Also, we went over some plays and there were times when I didn’t know the answer or got it wrong, and he told me to not worry about that because he would get me ready for that stuff when I got there. He truly cares about his guys and that was another big reason why I committed.”

Ray added that all his questions were answered before getting to his sit down meeting with head coach Bob Chesney.
