ParticipantThis post isn’t meant to inspire argument but rather for informational purposes and discussion only as I have no dogs in this fight whatsoever.
I tried to guess which current player had the best HOF trajectory at their respective position. It doesn’t mean they’ll get in but have a decent or better shot.
C – ?
1B – Freddie Freeman – nine-time All-Star, .300 BA, 370 HR, 2458 hits2B – Jose Altuve – nine-time All-Star, three batting titles, .302 BA, 258 HR, 2413 hits
SS – Mookie Betts – eight-time All-Star, six gold gloves .290 BA, 293 HR
3B – Manny Machado – seven-time All-Star, two gold gloves, 2085 hits, 371 HR
or do you pick Nolan Arenado – 10 gold gloves, eight-time All-Star, 357 home runs, .282 BA
DH – Shohei Ohtani – four-time MVP, five-time All-Star, only player with 50 HR 50 SB season.
LF – ?
CF – Mike Trout – 412 HR, .293 BA, three-time MVP, 11-time All-Star
RF – Aaron Judge – three-time MVP, seven-time All-Star, 377 home runs, .292 BA
P – Justin Verlander – three-time Cy Young Award winner, nine-time All-Star, 266-159 3.33 ERA, 3554 K’s.Thoughts? Any catchers or left-fielders with what you consider a HOF trajectory at the present time?

troystoryParticipantFor LF it’s Juan Soto. The Mets moved him over since he was not very good defensively in RF. He should stay there. 27 y/o, 245 career HR, career OPS of .948. Shoo in at that trajectory.
Catcher is a little tougher due to the position, its defense orientation, handling pitching staff, along with offense. My guess is Will Smith will get there on steady numbers, clutch hitting, and team success. He’s a 3 time all star, 3 time WS champ. Might need to hit 300 career HR, at 130 right now.
Cal Raleigh’s HR numbers alone might do it for him. He hit over 150 in a four year period. Unheard of for the position.
