“Khalil Terry has taken some visits over to UCLA recently and realized something important in his recruitment: It’s where he wanted to be.

The four-star safety from Tustin, Calif., backed off his Notre Dame pledge on Monday and has now committed to the Bruins after hitting it off with first-year coach Bob Chesney, position coach Anthony DiMichele and others on the coaching and recruiting staff.

Those close to Terry also loved UCLA and have been blown away by the organization and operation since Chesney has gotten to Westwood.

After a recent visit to UCLA for spring practice, Terry and those close to him loved seeing how Chesney runs his program and it sparked a ton more interest in the Bruins.

Despite Terry being committed to Notre Dame for months, the four-star was growing more comfortable in Westwood, in being closer to home around family and friends and he loved what the Bruins are trying to build there now.

UCLA has also shown to have tremendous momentum in recruiting this month and Terry is just another big-time example of the Bruins’ class really coming together.

April has been incredibly productive for UCLA with Terry’s commitment preceded by fellow four-star safety Pole Moala, who recently transferred back to Lawndale (Calif.) Leuzinger for his senior season. That could be the safety duo of the future for the Bruins.

Also, this month, the Bruins have landed pledges from Las Vegas Arbor View four-star tight end Zac Fares, who also had Texas very high on his list, three-star defensive lineman Montana Toilolo from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei and three-star offensive lineman Jackson Hill out of West Hills Chaminade.”

Congrats in flipping Khalil Terry, he is one of the top DB’s from the SS CIF.

UCLA is on a good roll.  All of this success is due to HC Chesney, AC’s, GM and his R staff which have created a nice FB haven and environment.  The kids must like them a lot and trust their sales pitch (oh + NIL deal).  Also, UCLA and USC have an advantage being located in exciting Los Angeles and sunny Southern Calif.

Our home boys (SS CIF players) want to continue playing here and not in freaken cold and dull college towns.  I grew up in cold weather and hated it.  After college, I moved to beautiful Hawaii and then Southern California.  Heck, I love being warm and doing outdoor activities all year long.  I’m sure most kids prefer sun shine and warm weather too…  Cheers

Yes Butkus, UCLA and USC are starting to keep Cali kids from leaving Cali. 7 of 9 UCLA commits are from CA.

Chesney has not coached a single game at UCLA, and yet he’s been able to sign players of this caliber. Khalil’s offer list is elite. Can you imagine what will happen with recruiting if he can win in his first season?

I know RWC. Chesney already has four 4* kids. Imagine what will happen when UCLA starts winning.

The Irish backed off of recruiting him after their Junior Day gathering four weeks ago.  A good pick-up for UCLA.

That sounds like red meat to a Trojan fan. What happened at Junior Day? This seems like a recruiting coup for ucla.

Terry is a local 4 star. So in terms of USC possibly being interested in him they have their sights set on one more safety in the 2027 class, Gavin Williams.

Bruddah FresnoMike, I think this is how it went about.  ND allows their committed recruits take OV to other schools.  Khalil did start visiting other schools.  But, HC Freeman and DB coach felt that Terry was wavering, so they started recruited other DB’s for insurance.  No, ND wanted Terry.  Terry committed to Penn St first, then ND and now UCLA.

Heck, HC Freeman read Khalil all da way.  Da kid is all over da place…  Cheers

ND just took a commitment from another safety today.  They dropped Terry four weeks ago.  Still a good pickup for the Bruins.

If ND dropped Terry 4 weeks ago, why did he de-commit just 3 days ago? I don’t think they dropped him.
Anyway, who cares, UCLA got a really good player.

Ya, sounds like a Trojan Fairytale to me.  Kind of like the whole NCAA “witch hunt” yarn they spin to each other every time they have a few wine coolers at the tailgate.

Because that’s the way MF operates.  If it’s good for the kid that is what he will do.
