anyone shocked? The team did more tackling and hitting this spring. Patterson’s shadow looms large. Jen is no dummy.

Since practices are closed there hasn’t been a lot of info on Maiva but I did read a blurb a few days ago that he looks like he took another “significant” step in his progress this offseason. Could be bad news for you fraud.

Agree, but it could be that the coaches are asking Maiava to throw tight windows when no one is open to give defenders a chance at ITs to sharpen their skills.

IT’s can’t be entirely blamed on QB’s; Wr’s play a big part on IT’s too.  Unless you saw the practice can’t make any judgment call on Maiava.  But, his 2 IT’s in da Alamo Bowl vs TCU were 100% on him…  Cheers

PS.  On many short to medium range passes, Maiava has a tendency to throw soft, touch passes.  He has to start zipping them so the DB’s do not have time to recover and break up passes or even make an IT.

Maiava reminds me of what the great Bill Walsh said about his first QB (Steve DeBerg) with the Niners before he turned the reins over to Montana…it was along the lines of “He plays just good enough to get you beat.”

Maybe that will change this year.  Maybe.

Correct. Bugs was a 3 star and went to UNLV for a reason. Of course, Riley is such an egomaniac, he thinks he can fix a 3 star. New flash, he can’t. You can’t fix that crazy hitch.

after being 100 percent about SBC  San Darnold, you probably should keep your quarterback opinions to yourself, my little yellow friend. sc

Bruddah Fraud, star ratings by the R services means very little.  Every year, they make mucho rating mistakes on QB.  See below, look at last year QB’s and their ratings, you will be surprise how the top QB’s had low ratings.

How about All NFL Pro Josh Allen = 0 stars in HS, Carson Wentz = 1 star, Kedon Slovis = 3 statrs.  Then there’s 2027 class QB, Dane Weber, Chaparral HS = 3 stars (no way Dane is 4+ stars all da way).

PS.  No ? C.LR is the top QB guru in country, no other coach comes close producing top QB’s in the last 12 years.  If you’re a top HS QB USC is the place to develope your QB skills.

        2025 NCAA Top QB’s

        1.  Fernando Mendosa, Indy, 2*

        2.  Julian Sayin, Ohio St, 5*

        3.  Diego Pavia, Vandy, 2*

        4.  Drew Mestemaker, N. Texas, 0 stars

        5.  CJ Carr, Notre Dame, 4*

        6.  Byrum Brown, South Florida, 2*-3*

        7.  Brad Jackson, Texas St, 3*

        8.  Dante Moore, Oregon, 5*

        9.  Joe Fagnano, U. Conn, 2*-3*

        10.  Demond Williams, UDub, 4*

        11.  Joe Labas, C. Michigan, 4*

        12.  Carson Beck, Miami, 4*

        13.  Jayden Maiava, USC, 3*   I think Maiava has exceeded his HS 3* ratings.  If things go well for 2026, I think he will be a Heisman final 4.

        14.  Joey Aguilar, Tennessee, 0*

        15.  Amari Odom, Kennesaw St, 2*

        16.  Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss, 0*

        17.  Brandan Sorsby, Cincinnati, 3*

        18.  Behren Morton, Texas Tech, 4*
