This is a post for mostly you Butkus.  I love your passion for football and especially California ball.
i am not as high on it as you are. And you maybe right.

one of the reasons I’m down on CA talent is how down USC and UCLA are. And USC has gotten some big names and they don’t pan out. So has Oregon.

Dillon Baxter  Raleek Brown Korey Foreman Malachi Nelson to name a few.

Justin Flowe is another.  So is Josh Rosen.

but then, to your point, The NFL OROY and DROY are CA kids. Carson S (oaks Christian) and Tmac (Servite). Then I think of Michigan DL Mason Graham. (Servite) Georgias TE Brock Bowers (Napa).  Ohio States CJ Stroud. ASUs Jaydin Daniels were 909 kids.

and USC is turning out any more Bosellis but Monheim AVT and Voorhees are starting in the NFL. Then again that’s from 2018 ish so is that a lot???  Prob want 1 a year or at least 1 every other year. Let alone DL.

I still think the Trenches in CA are thinning. Happy to be wrong. Obv Poly centric there demographically which is fine but true depth would be a lot more diversified. Where are the LA Mike Patterson Shaun Cody’s BKUs and Darryl Russell’s when you need them.  That’s a long time ago. I also think USC has let alot of great talent leave the state.

what do you think is the reasoning behind the lack of bigger kids in California?  Is it the parents?  Is it the lack of farmers and their large wives producing big ass farmer babies?  I mean it has to be something like that.  Seems to me most of the mammoth linemen come from the Midwest and the south.  The big people in California are usually just layabouts, and not bucking hay all day, I think that all has something to do with it.

        Demographics are destiny.

Far less white (for sure) and black kids (I think) (at least in south central for sure)

far more polys (thank goodness) , Asians and Hispanics. Hispanics can ball too (Mendoza Munoz and Tony Gonzalez) if they can get big enough

Bruddah Pasadena, you know my stance and feelings towards our HS athletes.  I’m all in for our Calif. athletes.  We have top athletes in FB, BasketB, BaseB, Track, Tennis, Swimming, Soccer, Volleyball, Softball, Golf, Wrestling, Martial Arts, Boxing, etc.  I’m in awed of the talented athletes Calif produces every year.  On the other hand, I can’t understand your ambivalent stance with our Calif. athletes?

And, we have a lot of Big OL and DL and very good ones too.  Shoot, the 2027 DL class are A+.  Our FB boys are fast, lean, strong, very skilled.  Our FB teams are sophisticated and run advance O & D.  We have top FB coaches and minds.  I think and feel Calif FB is tops in da nation, just look at the national rankings for the last 20 yrs; shoot at least 6 Calif teams are ranked in the top 25 and 3 in the top 10.

You make a point that FB talent is down from the peak decades.  Agree, but I’ve explained the reasons several times over here.  One more time, around the early 2000’s the CIF took away the free and complimentary uniforms/gear for FB and place the burden on families and HS.  Public schools suffer, due to poor, weak financial booster clubs and low income families who can not afford the high cost of FB equipment for their kids.  We have so many talented FB athletes who do not play due to high cost.

If I were USC, C.LR and GM Bowden I would concentrate on Calif. very top players and 2nd tier players.  They must out bid Oregon, Ohio St, Texas AM, Texas, OU, Bama, UGA, LSU, Michigan, Texas Tech, UDub, etc.  These schools every year steal our top players.  Heck, USC would get into the CFP with Calif players.  Hell, C. Mckay, C. Robinson, CPC put a big fence in Calif and won NC with Calif boys.  Nuff said…  Cheers

No way. Every top football school in America recruits California. The golden state is loaded with talent every year. Not sure what you’re watching but it smells of a politics take. And a wrong one.

Bruddah Pasadena, notice something you wrote.  You said many Calif top players have not done well at the next level (college FB).  I can’t speak for other schools, but at USC it was bad coaching.  We had very good D talent since C. LR has been here, but our D has been ranked in da 110’s under C. Grinch and #48 under DA Lynn.  Bad, can’t blame our D players, it’s bad coaching.

      C. LR has done very well with his O talented players.  Let’s see if DC Patterson can change the culture and coach his players into a physical D like: Indiana, Miami, Ohio St, Notre Dame, OU, Iowa, Oregon, Texas Tech.  If C. Patterson can get USC D ranked around #12 to #15 in country, I feel USC makes the CFP.

I think you should not look at the small number of failures, but rather the large number of successful players dat became Heisman, AA, All PAC and made it in da NFL…  Cheers
