The interesting thing in all of this is that most younger people (men in particular) do not want to own a home. The work that goes along with home ownership (upkeep, repairs, yardwork, etc.) is not of interest to those in their thirties or younger. They want to open the door, lock it, and leave to go order Avocado toast.. As much as this is used as a metric, the game has changed with views on ownership/vs renting and what a "family home" even looks like.
Interesting take. My son was fortunate with his wife to buy a home in KC area at the age of 26. Decent neighborhhod too. Took about 6 months before he was complaining about the bills lol. And they had one kid at the time. Looks like they decided one was enough, and he understands now that pops with four kids had to make some sacrifices when they were little. They are doing well with social work type jobs, so I have to give them credit.

Even a Dem Congressman said on the Maher show that you can't afford a home in Democrat run cities.
the underlying story is the destruction of the earning power of American dollar and wages
you can add to the list that no one is paying off their student loans by age 30
or will they later be able to afford to put their kids into private school or college
this won't change even if the minimum wage goes to $50/hr
