Inflation is up. 3% core Looks like tariffs bumped it a few tenths.
Employment is down.
Tariffs have gone from 2.5% on average to 18.6%. Highest since 1933
Rah rah for higher taxes. Yay higher taxes. We love paying more taxes.
The solution so far is to kill the messenger. That always works well.
FED rate is inflationary
why should our Central Bank rate be higher than 30 other industrial countries whose growth rates are lower?
if real GDP growth is 3-4%, what is the justification for a FED rate of more than a nominal 0.5-1%?
why is there NEVER a negative FED rate, you know, to stimulate economic growth?
why has the FED never prevented a recession, depression, or inflation?
why did the Great Depression occur a mere 16 years after the formation of the FED?
why does inflation continue to run rampant even during economic downturns?
US borrows $100 from the FED to print $100 bill, but must pay back $104 to the FED for the same $100 bill
where does the $4 come from?
if taxes are inflationary, then why are you only focused on tariffs?
why not income tax rates which are too high, property taxes which are tyrannical, sales taxes and excise taxes which suppress economic activity, etc?
when will you realize that taxes suppress economic activity (GDP)?
edit: if taxes are inflationary, what is the net effect of the biggest tax cut in US history as set forward in the recently executed BBB?
where do IRS revenues go if not the Treasury?
why does the Treasury collect tariffs and not the IRS?
why is the Treasury only now running surpluses for the first time in decades after the introduction of new tariffs?
why are you only now worried about the inflationary effects of tariffs, when we have NEVER been without them since our country was first created?
why are tariffs NOT inflationary for all of our trading partners that charge massive tariffs on US products up to 245%, especially countries that buy the larger share of US products? e.g. Germany, Canada, UK, Japan, etc.
Chyna has massive tariffs on all imports and their inflation is 0.3%
when will you realize that government spending, especially when combined with baseline budgeting, is the most inflationary economic pressure on the planet?
when will you realize that deficit spending is even worse?
when will you start worrying about that?
