We are told by teh Biden administration that it's YOUR fault for not driving an electric car. In the 60's, Berkeley students protested against in loco parentis. Now, the Democrats, and every Leftist, think they ARE in loco parentis. As such, they talk to (at) us as if we were naughty 11 year olds.

We'll see how that works when everyone on the grid is charging a car.

@August West So I'm back in el paso, tejas. When I left gas was $1.50 less than LA. Now it's buck under at $2.80 for the cheap stuff.

I might just break down and follow balls advice and get a tesla. Or - get the harley better. Good riding traffic here and not much bad weather. 50mpg ...

It’s crazy not to have a Tesla. Although the other auto makers are making alternative choices better and better. Cadillac put out a new electrc SUV, Lyriq wow! Beautiful. Lots of choices coming for electric cars. until we have so many on the road they go Enron and jack up electricity prices. Maybe it’s better if guys don’t listen to me. Just assume the position every time the oil companies go to “summer blend” or a pipeline goes “offline”.

@BigBallss Hummer ev, best of both worlds :/

I'm bummed about the Nikola Badger, that looked like it would have been a nice truck. Maybe the Lordsburg or Rivian?

Battery needs replacing at 75,000 miles; costs ~$14,000. Both Musk and head of Toyota say there isn't enough juice for US to go electric nor are therre sufficient power lines to carry that juice.

8 year warranty on the battery. i was told $8500 for battery replacement but you are right that’s the biggie expense. I have Only kept 1 car for more than 5 years in my life.resale value of Tesla’s is staying strong. I have had mine a little over 2 years. I’m plotting selling it and buying the new model S , 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, 1040 horses. There is enough juice now, never have had a problem charging at home or on a trip. in the future, I don’t know. My crystal ball broke years ago, a google search revealed this tidbit about battery life:

How Much Does It Cost to Replace a Tesla Battery? Tesla batteries are designed to last between 300,000 and 500,000 miles, so replacement shouldn't be a major concern for most drivers. It's estimated that the cost to replace a Model 3 battery will be in the $3,000 to $7,000 range.

replacement at 75,000 miles is fake news. there are many Teslas out on the roadc that exceed 75000 miles (by a lot) and dont need abattery replacement

There is no need to be a gashole anymore. unless you want to be one.

This is what Tesla drivers look like to normal people.

Without fossil fuels, there is noTesla. Without fossil fuels, you cant power up a Tesla.

Overpriced golf cart that’s completely reliant on fossil fuels.

NTM, why doesn’t anyone question Musk raping the earth, wasting water and destroying ecosystems for his lithium? And do pay attention to thw slave labor needed to mine the shit. But fossil fuels are bad.

    fuckin sheep

We would need to mine 10x the lithium we do now. Killing a species of lithium tolerant plant and leaving toxic slag. Also, the rare-earth metals needed for solar panels rape the environment. Think nuclear!

@BobLinMN-2 Im a big nuclear advocate. That’s what we should be powering plants and homes with. Study after study has shown it’s the safest way to generate electricity.

is Nuclear better for the environment ? I just don’t know enough to say but judging by the nuclear reactor meltdowns in Japan and russia, nuclear brings its own dangers. I think I would rather stay with fossil fuels than trust the government or private companies with nuclear power and nuclear waste. Yep, I’d give up my Yesla if the choice was nuclear. maybe.

New reactors don't & can't melt down and consume the nuclear waste produced by the older reactors. Don't have Russia build anything for you.

    May 17, 2021

@BobLinMN-2 Chernobyl and Fukushima are the only two major reactor accidents in history.

And they were due to fires that were not contained.

Nuclear power is the safest form of energy production....it’s an undeniable fact.

@August West and liberals hate it because production is not easily manipulated to create phantom shortages like electricity and fossil fuels. It is a "big scary" like guns to them.
