@the909trojan I think you're missing the point. Yeah, coaches leave all the time, but the writer is arguing that the rate at which this is growing is going to hurt the game more than it already has, i.e. it's becoming more about the coaches as rock stars rather than the players/teams themselves.

Yeah, the players may be mercenaries too, in a way, particularly in college basketball, so they aren't all innocent babes in the woods. But this is getting out of hand, particularly when you look at the amount of money being thrown about. The fact that the NFL, a truly heartless organization, has specific rules against this type of thing and the NCAA does not? Fuck me, that's rich.

@the909trojan Understood. The writer probably singled out Kelly because his team is still involved in a playoff run. If Oklahoma had a playoff shot, I'm sure the writer would have come down much harder on Riley and USC. The fact he did not somewhat weakens his argument, IMO. Regardless, this is a practice that is not going to end anytime soon.
