Maybe that's just a number got thrown out there, but Syracuse said "bye" at that number.
Syracuse All-Conference Receiver Trebor Pena To USC Trojans? Transfer Portal Visit
We will see if he comes way off of that.
Penn State visit already. UCLA up next Bruins spending $ like it's going out of style
Pena's stats are deceiving. Syracuse was top passing team, they passed a lot (air raid O). They had an A+ QB, Kyle McCord (X Ohio St.) passing for 4,779 yds, 34 TD's.
Syracuse had 3 top Wr's: # 26 Jason Meeks, 78/1021 yd, # 38 Trebor Pena, 84/940 yds, # 39 Oron Gadsden, 84/934 yds. With an Air Raid O, passing and P/R stats are gonna be high.
I saw only one Syracuse game, Holiday Bowl. Syracuse (W) vs Washington St, 52-35. Both QB's played well. S-McCord passed for 24/34, 453 yds, 5 TD's. Wash St- Z. Eckhaus, 31/43, 365 yds, 3 TD's. I wanted to see Wash St, QB John Mateer play, but he entered the TP picking OU and did not play in the Holiday Bowl. OU got an A+ QB in Mateer.
Yeah, both teams Wr's were very good (mucho passing the entire game).
So what do you think Pena's NIL market value?
Looked him up, his 2024 stats click link. He was ranked 38th in Pass Rec stats. Hell, I amend by initial $750 K to $400 K tops.

There go the free pizzas!
He's denied that number is anywhere close to his asking price.
$750 K tops. If not, I'm thinking give the young Wr's a shot. 2 to 3 will surprise us and emerge with playing time. Our new Wr's have talent, just needs game experience. Xavier Jordon, Prince Strachon (TP), Corey Simms, Tanook Hines, James Johnson, Romero Ison are good young Wr's.
USC isn’t paying $2mill for this guy but if we can get him at a price that makes sense, we should definitely do so. Besides Lemon and Lane we have a lot of guys with potential but no one with Pena’s production numbers.
