Don't care about a personal interest story. The DC for UCLA is doing a piss poor job. You can see it not just in preparation pre-game but adjustments during the game.
I like Chip. I think he is better than anyone else who would come to dead end tech, aka UCLA, but if Chip won't fix the defense, he has to go.
I certainly agree with that. I couldn't care less if UCLA gets a name coach or not, but I have no doubt that whoever they bring in won't do any worse than Chip has.
@buddyboy No apology necessary. You weren't wrong about that. I'm just of the opinion that people who don't want to get in a heap of trouble shouldn't shoot their mouths off like that and verbally threaten people, because you never know how someone else might respond. But, again, the sucker-puncher wasn't in the right either.
the reason the homeless guy has not spoken to the media is simple....the reporters have been looking for him under the wrong freeways... Cmon, ucly, keep 7-Chin Chip and his homeless guy....
The author makes some interesting points. I know many of us quacks were clamoring for Azz to replace Aliotti as DC at Oregon when Kelly was there. Azz was DL coach and the thought was he would be a much better DC than "Allow-alotti".
Kelly is nothing if not loyal to his guys--to a fault. It's why he helped persuade Oregon to choose Helfrich to be his successor in Eugene. A decision I endorsed at the time and for years later...until the Ferrari was all but wrecked.
BTW, the author mentioned Kelly winning "Rose BowlS" (plural) while at Oregon. For the record Chip only won one RB at Oregon. Helfrich won one. And Cristobal has now won one.
You're lucky AZZhole was never the DC at Nike, he would fucked up that defense far worse than Nick A. ever did -- even worse than Nick A. did in his one year at UCLA. Chip Kelly never should have hired that piece of shit AZZhole in the first place. Chip Kelly can suck my dick.
@Waldorf What's funny is your LBer coach, Don Pellum, was the one who really F'ed up Oregon's defense as DC. And then Brady Hoke after Pellum was demoted back to LBer coach. Don't get me wrong, I think Pellum is a pretty fair LBer coach, just one who definitely hit the peter principle when Helfrich promoted him to DC after firing Aliotti.
@LA Duck The entire defensive staff seems to suck ass, but AZZhat is the head man, his schemes suck, his players regress, and it's all his responsibility. He can take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut.
What a pleasnat article. Clearly Chip and Azzinaro need a couple more years to iron out the kinks. Speaking of kinks is there a "diverse" relationship between the two?
I'm guessing Jarmond would have had more of a say in this were this not his first year as AD.
If Jarmond were the AD four years ago, would he have objected to Chip hiring a worthless piece of shit like AZZhole? No. That's not his role, and no head coach would stand for that.
But I'm also guessing -- okay, hoping -- that this shitstorm wasn't news to Jarmond long before this article was even available. Regardless, it's sure part of his job now, and if Chip is the head coach at UCLA next fall then Jarmond isn't for real.
Let's say UCLA wins out to finish 8-4 without a win over a team with a winning record. If Jarmond was a boss like Bohn, he should tell Kelly, "we want to extend your contract, but the homeless guy has to go." If Kelly refuses to fire him, then we're looking to hire our next head coach.

What happened to the ex Penn State guy? Thought he was supposed to be the truth?
