A few years ago Hugs Helton pulled Matt Corral's ride to SC.
From the rumors. Remember I don't start them. Matt who played quarterback for a pretentious private high school up in LA. Same school celeb's kids go to called Oak's Christian . Remember Emu Clausen? Like most of the "athletes" at Mater Dei , Matt was only there because he was great at football. Had an arm like a howitzer. But a poor kid from the wrong side of the tracks.
At a high school party, After some verbal exchange he called Wayne Gretzki's daughter a name. She hit him. He hit her back. Cost Corral his ride at SC. Matt got the boot out of school and I think transferred to Long Beach Poly. Kid wound up a third round draft choice last year in the NFL after transferring from SC to Ole Miss. Dude still has a cannon.
Gus Cordova just verbal-ed to SC this last weekend. Back in the fall he didn't believe another player's peanut allergy was all that and put some peanuts in his locker and and some peanut butter in his cleats. Kid always carried around an epi pen. Anyways, the kid got a rash and Gus got a two game suspension. Fine. Should have gone away. No harm. No foul. Stupid thing stupid kids do , right?
But here's the problem. According to the Kid's mom. Cordova then started bullying her son for narcing on him. She apparently got the school board involved etc. Story went viral.
What a mess.
And SC scholarship is a privilege . My guess is, he winds up at a place like ASU or Oregon. sc
While at LB Poly....Matt Corral attended an elite "By Invitation Only" weekend QB Camp held at USC. While staying overnight in the dorms.....Matt snuck out got drunk with HS friends. He was noted as being missing from the dorm. When he returned very late to the dorm Matt Corral was confronted by a USC Coach/Staffer. Corral then proceeded to get quite belligerent with that USC Staffer. After that "wee hours" incident....Corral was dismissed from the USC Camp. USC immediately pulled his scholarship offer after that dorm incident. The earlier incident involving Gretzky's son at Oaks Christian is also true. Corral's throwing arm has been his salvation. I hope he has matured enough to make a career out of his abilities.
