Ryan Day , 56-8, two conf ships, B1G COY, 4 playoff appearances
Riley 74-18, 4 conference championships, 3 play off appearances, 3Heisman winners, Broyles award winner, AP COY, Big 12 COY, 3 #1 overall nfl draft picks
Ummm...okay. Not that I am arguing some positions on that list but what is also important is the fit. Names like Ryan Day, Lincoln Riley and James Franklin have had simply better talent where they were at. Would these same coaches do better than typical history at other programs that don't have that level of talent?
UW is one that has never attracted top talent like those have had. From a realistic POV, Luke Fickell, Johnathon Smith and Matt Rhule would be better fits at UW than those forementioned. Luke Fickell will not leave the upper midwest region, don't know much about Matt Rhule's culture, but I have said it before, if it comes to that, Johnathon Smith will be UW's next coach (unless he doesn't have success at MSU).
Clay Helton?? You do realize Clay Helton signed classes in his first 4 recruiting seasons that ranked higher than Oregon's during Lanning's time here:
2nd
10th
4th
4th
Compared to Lanning signing classes in his first 2.5 seasons that ranked:
13th
9th
3rd (currently)
C'mon, Brad - you have to be smarter than this? Please tell me you are: "Helton could make the playoffs with Oregon's roster"..... 🙄? Fact is he couldn't do it with a BETTER roster....😆
And btw, yes feel free to quote me on anything going forward if you'd like, free rein to do so.
Only make sure I actually wrote it...not sure if I ever said Oregon was "king" of anything....lol I believe that term is reserved for blue bloods specifically.... 🙂
Oregon never will be, nor IMO would we ever WANT to be, a blue blood.
