Poll is Carson Palmer a Hall Of Famer?

    in WildWest Football Board

    http://imgur.com/a/pDuSdE1

I started this poll on an unbiased site called footballguys after some of you were flapping your gums on he was a hall of famer. Very few times is there a poll with over 100 votes, two options and one option gets zero votes since there usually is atleast one person that does a troll vote. Over 120 votes and not a single person thinks Palmer is a hall of famer, even some commented in the thread they thought I was making a troll post.

Yes. No brainer. Top 12 in several passing categories. Way ahead of other HOFs. His only knock is no rings, but it’s not his fault he played for shitty teams. Aikman would have zero rings if he played in Cleveland.

Andrew Luck in 6-7 Seasons has more TDs than aikman. Ouch.

    List is crazy right.

How did Aikman only throw for 33k?

If you have 120 people answering such a post they all are either complete morons or hate Palmer for some reason. Probably a bunch of your Bruin butt buddies

I would say he is. I am not a huge NFL fan but the guy threw for a lot of yards. Took two dead franchises and made them competitive. Had some great stats and a long career. He doesn't measure up to his contemporaries Rivers, Brees and Brady so for that reason I could accept that he's not. I wonder how his career stats measure up to Eli Manning, who will be a very debatable but likely candidate.

While it’s not that important to Me. I think he is. We tend to put way too much emphasis on end of season one game performance. Example. There were people who last year debated whether clayton kershaw was h til the Dodgers won the series. That’s ludicrous. And I think there are a lot of parallels between the two

@Java Kershaw didn’t fail in one game. He failed multiple times in multiple games. For me that matters.

Very good player. Very good career. Not a HOF career. IMHO

Kershaw is at 185 wins (good But not great)

2.49 era (very very good. HOF worthy)

2600 strike outs (good. Far from great)

    one ring.

    multiple post season flame outs

i like the guy but if I had a voteI wouldn’t vote him in. I’m probably also in the minority but thats ok Too

Absolutely. It’s not his fault he played on shit teams.

His career numbers place far above guys that are in the HOF.

Your Trojan obsession noted. Who cares?

He was a good player that was never the same after his injury.

Always represented USC well, good guy.

Letting the interception machine Aikman in because he was good at handing off a football makes the whole "hall" a joke. sc

@rwc1952 I think You have 4 strawman arguments in 2 sentences. Thats a world record.

Basketball is 5 on 5 & You play both ends of the floor. Does FB do the same thing??? of course not.

so it’s 1/5 vs 1/22. Is that the same math???? You get that? You just can’t compare the two sports.

    Its That simple.

The main skill set of an NFL QB is throwing and decision making. Carsons 294 TDs are a sign he is good at that. Thats top 15 in HISTORY.

The main skill set of a point guard is decision making and dribbling. Then shooting. RW is historically bad at decision making & shooting. That is why his teams LOSE. A lot.

@Pasadena Trojan It’s not about comparing the two sports it’s what’s required of an athlete to be inducted into the HOF. You go off into a zzzzzzzz tutorial or editorial take your pick of the responsibilities of a QB and a PG. Seriously do you talk to yourself ? Palmer and Westbrook both have excellent stats and are definitely top 15 in their respective sports but no titles. Aikman has very good stats but not as good as Palmer but 3 SB titles to his credit. All three belong in the HOF IMHO.

I lumped all the trojan qbs together as busts and that triggered usc fans disagreeing about palmer, I started making fun of palmer with his hot dog eating commercials and dena got triggered and started turning it into an Aikman vs Palmer debate.

@BruinEngineer Got it. It's actually a good question. Objectively speaking. Answer is probably not due to the lack of playoff success, but the stats are there to make an argument imho.

I have not followed his statistics but I would use three criteria to determine if a player should make the Hall of Fame:

    Statistics & Ratings

    Years of Play

    Championships

    Thats it. That’s the list.

Palmer has 2 of the 3.

Aikman ONLY has 1 of the 3.

NEITHER should be in it actually IMO At pure face value at least. I could live with that. works for my/your criteria.

Marino & Fouts have only 2 of the 3 also.

Bradshaw only has 1 of the 3. So does Steve Young.

So As they say in Court cases, legal precedent has been set. I can accept that too. FWIW
