"Ramblin Man" was my Dickie Betts favorite. He also took over the "slide guitar" duties (like in "Jessica") for ABB after Duane Allman crashed his motorcycle under a semi-truck. My all-time Allman Brothers song is "Whippin Post" .https://youtu.be/FUvxRjYqjEQ?si=j-SDkL-INdKjbgd3
Always liked the ABB. 'Blue Sky' was my fav. My good friend was a flight attendant and Dickie Betts was on one of his flights back in '91 (obviously around Christmas time). Knowing I was an ABB fan, my friend asked him to autograph one of those airline napkins for me. I am sitting in my home office looking at that autographed napkin right now...
Loved ABB as well (not so much ABBA, though 😁). And Blue Sky is one of my all-time favs as well, named after his Native American wife.
Cool autograph and story, mandb. And please don't feel like I'm picking on you, but I've never understood the fascination many people have for an autograph....is it like you have a piece of that person forever? Or what's the big draw? I honestly just don't get it.
The only autograph I ever got from anyone remotely famous was from Tony Graziani (Oregon QB in the mid-'90s) after the Cal game at Memorial. I had a cast on one leg from my balls to my toes, and I was on the field after the game in crutches, he came over to me and I had him sign it. I guess I felt at the time a cast is meant to be signed...lol. Up til then only girls had signed my cast, though. I made an exception.
BTW you Trojans may remember Tony as our back-up QB who came in to start the game at the Coliseum in 1994, and won it 22-7.
No, I am not an autograph guy. The only other ones I have is my son was at a charity benefit with Warren Moon there. There was one of those small footballs with Don James' autograph (with cert) so he got it for me and Warren Moon also signed it. The three autographs I have were given to me. I don't know why I hang on to the Dickie Betts one. It is not like he is super famous or I am some super fan groupie, but I guess it just doesn't take up that much space.

Yup….one of the great ones.
Extremely underrated
