He was also right. It's not about the Xs & Os. It's about the Jimmy's and Joe's. Translation for today. It's not about the schemes and coverages. It's about the D'Meshemes and the RaDaverages.
If xs and os were irrelevant, mckay wouldn't have devised a brand new offensive scheme for the I formation and 28 blast and SBL/R and a passing game to match. As Frank Broyles once said, USC's offense is the most feared in all of CFB.
Coaches need talent, they need to coach up the talent and they need a winning scheme. Each of these is critical.
The sad thing about today's game is every team is basically running the same offense. I miss the days of the wishbone, the veer, the I formation run/pass combination. The match ups were far more intriguing. Today's games basically boil down to who has the best qb. boring.
Had an issue with a bidness partner years ago. He was doing all kinds of stuff to make more money than the rest of the partners. People can rationalize anything. It destroyed the group who wanted to boot his ass out.
We will see how NIL affects locker rooms in the most emotional sport humans play. sc
as you said earlier, NIL is just a canard for pay for play. As I said a while back, NIL profits should be incumbent upon the player, not the school/boosters. He and his representatives should market his NIL. The school can offer assistance as free training programs to marketing majors, Comp sci majors to work up a web presence. The school bookstore should split profits of jersey sales if they market that player's number. But this nonsense with boosters bidding a priori to a players services is a disaster and everyone knew it would be.
