If I were Bohn, I would call Tom Herman

    in WildWest Football Board

As well. He’s a good coach. Clearly at Texas he wasn’t unbeatable. But they were in EVERY game & that is a much better Conference than Pac 12.

    He‘s currently an NFL assistant.

    Raised in Simi Valley.

54-22 or something overall coaching record. A .711 winning percentage. No scandals Except a kind of hot wife.

    5-0 in Bowl Games.

I don’t know about his recruiting prowess. Maybe a weakness?? Idk. If yes that’s a big one obviously.

He‘s an upgrade over Hugs tho. For sure.

worth a look & an interview. I havent heard a presser with Herman. I don’t know him. Just prelim interest here & going off resume.

That will go over well. Hire a guy helton beat and who just got fired at texas. And had racial strife there. Why is having a good looking wife controversial?

@imaginary that I had not heard. I am curious as to why he was shitcanned at Texas even tho he was pretty successful. Well except in beating Okie. I know he didn’t do that enough. So maybe he is a jerk off.

PS aren’t you the guy who hates on Dogs the other day on political board. If that was you Many would Call you an A hole. :) If it wasnt you my apologies. Going on my fallible memory

As for the racial strife I think it had to do with singing the Heart of Texas or something after the game. Its as legitimately controversial as standing for the National Anthem. you shouldnt slander someone without the facts.

@Pasadena Trojan The song was the deal that broke it off for Texas. Any that questions Hermans record needs to look at how many seasons he was at Texas when Helton beat him and compare that to the number of seasons Helton was at USC and then look what happened when Herman met Helton again with one more season under his belt. Lastly look at how many big games against highly rated opponents he won and lost between his time at Houston and Texas and compare the two

There are no guarantees short of Meyer and Saban, but I think when you fire a coach two games into the season, after your last two coaches were fired five games into their last season, and after a decade plus of fan frustration, you HAVE to go big with this hire.

NYT had the best post on hiring that I've ever seen. When helton was hired he ripped it at the time. He said at the very least wait to see how he does in the conference championship before you even consider him. Talked about the need to go in a whole new direction. At the time of a hire you can only judge that hire based on that time and who was available. Hindsight is 20/20 but there's going to be a lot of eyes on this hire and a lot of expectation and hope. You can't go out and hire somebody like Herman imo.

@the909trojan 909 a major reason for hiring Helton wasUSC desperately wanted a class guy and stability. They were willing to sacrific e winning big for a time. Not saying that was the right way to go but it was a major cinsideration

@66 i think stability in the program had a lot to do with it, as did hiring somebody as a figure head. Coaching acumen clearly wasn’t high on the priority list:
