Keep the Trojans in a slow, slow decline. Give him a 10 year extension, and more power! Clay Helton head coach slash co athletic director, or what about Clay Helton head coach slash co president of the school.
Bob is so stupid he thinks Clay won a Rose Bowl... lol... players got him there and won that one.. The year Clay 'won' the Rose Bowl, they didn't even win the Pac12 South.. They got to play a middle of the road Big10 team instead of the No. 1 team in Big 10... Complete joke... might as well be the Freedom Bowl you fawking tard.
@firenze5 doesn't matter - Final 4 is all that matters dude... back in the 80s, 90s maybe, OK, rose bowls mattered... is a Sweet 16 good in basketball? it's pretty good.. you win a Rose Bowl today its equivalent to that... Who plays for consolation prizes? I'd say a Pac 12 title is good... A Natty is good.. other than that, all these dumb bowls are a scam..... Like I said, USC didn't even win the pac12 south and somehow you guys get to play a middle of road team in a Rose Bowl? come on man
Say what one will about Helton, but I'm not sure UCLA has ever beaten a USC team that was coached by Helton (as HC). And THAT is probably the main reason Helton still has a job.
The Trojans have been pretty good with Helton at the helm, but pretty good isn't very good at USC. At times they've been mediocre, and then he'll get a big win and things will calm down for a little while. He wins just enough to retain his job, but his ceiling has already been reached. At USC, winning 10 games is relatively easy given all the talent on the roster, but you have to win the big ones on a consistent basis, and he hasn't done that; there aren't too many times he's beaten teams as an underdog. I don't see USC being a national title contender with Helton as HC, and that's why so many alums want him gone. If and when he loses to both UCLA and Notre Dame in the same year, whenever that may be, he'll be toast.
@ATLBRUIN Yeah, I guess he was. Forgot about that. That was their first losing season in close to twenty years, and somehow he survived that. Kinda hard to believe this is his SEVENTH year as HC at USC.
BE, I want Helton out. But he's done something ucla hasn't done in over a third of a century: win a Rose Bowl. You'd have to be a grandparent to remember that game. Back in the days of beepers, Apple IIs, 51/4" floppies, and rotary phones! "Punting is winning."

BE time to worry about that juggernaut in Westwood. You guys should be preparing for Alabama in the championship game
