There's been a some talk about this Riley hire on the boards, that he is some pass happy, Graham Harrel clone, wannabe Mike Leach Air Raid guy. And that is flat out untrue.
I watch a good amount of OU football, been to Norman, and I can assure you, OU is as balanced as anyone in CFB.
Below are some stats from Riley's 7 years at OU......2 as OC and 5 as HC.
As HC:
2021-
Rushing Attempts: 405 52%
Passing Attempts: 376 48%
2020-
Rushing Attempts: 419 54%
Passing Attempts: 362 46%
2019-
Rushing Attempts: 565 60%
Passing Attempts: 381 40%
2018-
Rushing Attempts: 527 57%
Passing Attempts: 401 43%
2017-
Rushing Attempts: 546 56%
Passing Attempts: 433 44%
As OC:
2016-
Rushing Attempts: 573 60%
Passing Attempts: 384 40%
2015-
Rushing Attempts- 574 57%
Passing Attempts- 439 43%
So, as you can see.....not only is Riley not pass happy, he runs the ball more than he throws it. That should make all Trojans pretty happy.
Problem I see is Riley has always had a inside receiver coach, outside receiver coach and a TE coach...and Hansen is identified as a TE coach...so unles they shift him over thats it to my knowledge and if you look at his experience and USC's need that would be a bold move to name him OL coach...two years at Tulsa and a little time at KSU....although in his time at Tulsa all his linemen made all league..just not the expected hire at such an important position as I would like. and it now makes an open slot at TE and ST
Right on
RAH RAH! WE'VE BEEN BOHNED AGAIN! CLEMENTARD IS NEVER WRONG.
SKI ON!
Very. Thanks for write up!
That’s good information Augie.
But here's the difference. He can change and adapt his offense to the strengths of the QB and the team, unlike Leach who just tries to pigeon hole everyone into his system. "Already, he’s molded three very different quarterbacks—Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Jalen Hurts—into either Heisman Trophy winners or finalists by shifting fundamental elements of his offense to fit their specific strengths; this year, by embracing the wishbone rushing offense, one of the spiritual influences for the Air Raid, he’s transformed Hurts into one of the most thrilling dual-threat quarterbacks in the U.S."
Ya, Riley's hardly even heard of mike leach or the air raid offense.
Here is a whole article full of IGNORANCE. lmao. sc
