This might raise his stock in Bohn's eyes. He has done more with less. Can he do more with more?
It looks like the UCLA bandwagon is emptying as expected. usually UCLA gets in a couple good games before collapsing in their good years. 2021 is such a year.
ESPN clearly sees the futility of UCLA and its continuing crawl towards it sUniversity of chicago football future "UCLA: The Bruins need to fix their suspect pass defense if they want to post the program's first winning season since 2015. They have allowed nine pass plays of 40 yards or more, which is the most by a Power Five program and second-most nationally."
Fickell is my favorite of all the names mentioned thus far. His teams play fast and tough. There would be a mass exodus and we'd probably look like shit the first two years, but once he got players that fit his syste and were 5* guys that sc attracts, he'd be a great hire. Clay chased the stars, not the fit. And he lacked the coaching skills to make them fit
DC
If you read the articles in The Athletic, Gomer was in so far over his head it's criminal that Haden hired him and Swann gave him an extension
@Winston Smith The lack of matching needs to recruting and the lack of development were both constant drumbeats of fans. Bohn tried to bail Gomer out with an executive style coaching approach with good assistants, but Gomer ws in so far over his head that even standing on the shoulders of slightly better assistants couldnt get him above water.
@D CLEATER Plus one, if no urban meyer Fickell then CP would be my top choices.
No Bienemy
I don’t see Fickle coming… he has his team in the top 5, UC will be in power5 conference in ‘23.
Yes, he'd be in a Power 5 conference but it would be the Big 12 without any marquee programs. And he'd still be at Cincinnati. The only things I see that could keep him from coming are (1) he and his wife just don't want to leave Ohio or close to Ohio, which I'd say is unlikely but possible, or (2) he really didn't get along with Bohn at Cincy.
ND is playing a D3 scrub at qb like SC
Since USC isn't I guess I can't take your word as truth about ND either.
Fickell looks like the leading candidate for the job at USC. What he has done is impressive.
