It sucks now so....is summer has been a tumultuous one for the NCAA. Not only did collegiate athletes win big by changing NIL laws, but conference realignment now looms large and the NCAA is quickly losing its grip of power.
In response, the NCAA Board of Governors announced on Friday that they would be convening a constitutional convention in November to provide recommendations for restructuring the Association across all three divisions. According to the release, ‘the special constitutional convention is intended to propose dramatic changes to the NCAA Constitution to reimagine aspects of college sports so the Association can more effectively meet the needs of current and future college athletes.’
"As the national landscape changes, college sports must also quickly adapt to become more responsive to the needs of college athletes and current member schools," said Jack DeGioia, chair of the Board of Governors and president of Georgetown. "This effort will position the NCAA to continue providing meaningful opportunities for current college athletes and those for generations to come."
Would you buy a used car from these people? Nooooo
A day late, and a dollar short.
Revenue generating sports (football and men's basketball) will no longer permit themselves to be under the control the NCAA. It's just a matter of time. They can have all the emergency meetings they want. Too much money is involved and the NCAA has proven themselves to be as corrupt as the Olympic committee , the World Health Organization, and the demo-Rat party.
the other minor sports, which no one gives a shit about will be the only place where the NCAA will have plenary (look it up) powers. yawn.
no one (still two words) really cares about those anyways except Pat-burp-hiccup-belllllllllllllch Haden. Bet that "convention" won't be at the Ritz Carlton. sc
