I loved roller derby when I was a little kid. LA thunderbirds on uhf channel 56.
I was probably 9 when my buddy Chris and I snuck into and saw Kansas City Bomber. Sat through it again. Would have sat there for a week if I could. lmao.
I had no idea what was happening to me or that something like this actually existed.
You must have lived in the sticks when you were a kid. In L.A., everything Dick Lane announced was on Channel 5.
OT story that involves Raquel Welch. Last year I noticed a new cable channel in my lineup called Decades. For a while, they ran Dick Cavett shows from the early 70s. He was a big hitter in the interview department, and he or his producers put together an amazing variety of guests. On the day after Raquel died, Decades aired a Cavett show with Raquel Welch, James Earl Jones, and Lt. Gov. Lester Maddox. Jones was a dud interview.Maddox, to say the least, was a strange guy but an interesting interview. He talked about how he was too busy working to do this or that. Cavett asked him the last good movie he saw and he said he hadn’t seen a movie in over 30 years. Cavett followed up with, “Have you seen ‘Gone With the Wind?” and he said, “That was more than 30 years ago.”
The night before that show, Cavett's guests were Satchel Paige, Lilian Gish, and Salvador Dali.
I'm not a Brony homer but I think with three maybe four years in college he could be a 6th man nba type player. Just my opinion. He just came through after the heart attack so I don't think his stats or performance this year should be read into too much. Is he anywhere near his dad? Of course not? Does his skill set and size scream nba starter? NO. But I don't think he's as bad as a lot of people say. This isn't Walter Payton's son.
I hope he didn't sign with an agent. He's as ready for the NBA as any of us on the board.
We live in a world where the most believable institutions are professional wrestling and Roller Derby.
If he thinks he’s an NBA player he’s delusional but I see his dads fingers all over this. The kid deserves better. Stay in school and enjoy your life.
If Peyton Watson could get drafted anyone can get drafted. NBA teams now seem to look at potential and are willing to wait.
