Munetaka Murakami is a prominent left-handed power-hitting third baseman in Japanese baseball (NPB) who’s been talking with the DODGERS for 5 years now. He plays for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows. He is considered one of the best hitters in Japan, having set the record for most home runs in a single NPB season by a Japanese-born player with 56 in 2022, surpassing Sadaharu Oh's long-standing record. In 2022, Murakami also achieved the rare feat of winning the Central League's Triple Crown, leading the league in batting average, home runs, and RBIs. 

Murakami's potential has drawn considerable attention from Major League Baseball (MLB) teams, with speculation about a potential move to the MLB in the near future. He is expected to be posted to MLB after the conclusion of the 2025 season. 

While Murakami is primarily a third baseman, he has also played some first base and has recently begun practicing in the outfield. Some scouts view his defense at third base as below average, but his elite power hitting ability makes him a highly sought-after player.
