I agree that he won’t get pinched, but it will probably cost him way more than 4.5 million to either defend himself or from possible lost sponsorships because of the ugliness of all of this
It will be spun by a huge PR spin that he was just caught up in the service of a friend. Huge effort by MLB to make this all go away. Even bigger than the sweep the cheating astros under the rug.
There won't even be reporters hounding Ohtani because he 'wink wink' doesn't speak English.
Don't see the gubment going after Ohtani either. He's a foreigner and isn't white.
No comment is a term used in these types of situations. In this case, Ohtani’s peeps should have shut their mouths until the legal minds stepped in and figured it all out. Basic common sense. Fire everyone
Imo when the original truth came out someone pointed this out and that’s why the story changed. That and the desire to distance him from anything that would jeopardize his playing or income producing abilities.
Hes the biggest thing in baseball. A bigger industry than some teams. Like what’s bigger. Him or the Florida marlins? See?
I think this may be like watergate. The cover up might be worse than the crime
I can’t really answer that question because I don’t know what actually happened. None of us do. There are more details, possibly small details which could end up being significant later down the road.
Maybe attorneys would’ve pulled back and delayed a second comment, I don’t really know because again we don’t know all the details. Still would’ve been better than a rushed statement which completely contradicts the first statement. Don’t we agree on that? For example, something like Ohtani doesn’t bet on sports period. Our client did nothing wrong or illegal, period. The truth will be presented in a timely manner. Have a bitchin’ day.).
Cleaned up by not making it worse is what I was getting at here.
actually I think they did get legal advice after the first statement and that was the reason for the second statement. Otherwise why change their story?
The second statement is an obvious attempt to distance Ohtani and not disrupt the gravy train.
listened to Cowherd this morning , his guess was that two best friends with lots of money and time on their hands liked to bet on sports and as long as it wasn't on baseball, it's much to do about nothing since sports betting is legal depending on where you live.
The gubment wants their CUT on sports gambling, and that cut is billions and growing exponentially. sc

Depends on how he votes.
