BINGO

If I say that up front there is a lot less interesting discussion.  Kind of knew that you would see where I was going with it in the end (which is why it was directed at you).  Better coaching isn't really on the table for the foreseeable future.  I actually find it amazing that after the ASU debacle they found a way to put the pieces together in a way that even kept us in the game with Stanford and Oregon.

For the record I think that has more to do with the abilities of Pullard, Dawson and Bailey than coaching.  Without the epic failure against a maginal ASU team we would be far worse off.  I think it will only get better next year in spite of the coaching.  Starr and Ruffin appear to be very well suited players for the system.  Shaw an excellent boost to the secondary.

Which brings up another interesting question:

What happens if Monte DOES retire?  I think it becomes VERY, VERY hand to say no to EdO as "real" defensive coordinator.  We may actually long for the Monte days.  This will be even harder if the DL grows to be crazy good (which I think is probable if all current recruits stick and EdO continues as DL coach).  If they pull Adams out of Georgia (BIG if) our DL could be up there with some of the best.

I'm actually not convinced that Lane Kiffin is completely married to the T2.  I would put EdO in that camp also.  Pure conjuecture based upon personalities.  I know it's the current culture - but I think they are both aggressive risk takers by nature.  That doesn't mean I would want EdO running the defense completely.  I am not sure there is a better position coach / recruiter out there but he was an SEC head coach in the SEC, how long will he be satisfied with a title alone?  I hope LK can find a creative solution to that clusterf... It may be more challenging than NCAA sanctions.  LOL
