Yep. SC gambled and lost.

Sure, SC cooperated and gave the ncaa full access to what ever they wanted during their investigation, but what SC didn't do, as other schools have done, is admit guilt. SC never admitted any guilt. Instead SC challenged the NCAA to prove their was any complicity or impropriety on the part of the school. I do believe that the SC athletic dept was confident that the NCAA wouldn't find anything, or at the very least, anything that would result in more than a mere slap on the wrist. But the NCAA wanted SC to save them from doing the heavy lifting in the investigation by just admitting guilt.

That was a gamble by SC and they lost. Other schools have learned from SC's mistake. If the NCAA makes an accusation, you admit guilt, kiss ass, self impose sanctions, and hope for the best or least in punishment.
