I don't think his love of ANY school be it USC or you name it, could have helped him. His family situation is just not to where its realistic for him to be anywhere but UCLA or maybe Cal. Seems to be more that its his dad's call. USC obviously was trying to find a different way to navigate this. Can't complain, as USC's won some of these situations, lost some. Its not normal but not unique either.

The guys who kiss the ring to get near the program will tell you USC's recruiting parents and a different breed of player this year but spin is only truth so far, USC wants this guy and would have to find a way around the family to make it happen. So there's examples where the spin doesn't really carry the day every time out, with recruiting.
