making the diagnosis and fixing problems.  

 

Now it's about stabilizing patients and making the correct disposition.  MOVING THE CATTLE.   

 

Back in the 60's and  70's a nurse would never wake up a doctor unless it was actually an emergency.  In the 80's doctors still came and saw their patients in the ED.  Starting in the 90's the ER became the black bag, dumping point for everyone.   Now being an ER doctor is a glorified triage monkey.  They come too fast to actually take the time to figure things out or fix things.   Screw that.  Not fun or rewarding anymore.  It's all about working the phones and doing tests to protect yourself from a lawsuit and moving the cattle. The waits are only going to get longer.   sc
