I suspected...

something was amiss at USC when I noticed that the Trojans kicked off to start both halves at the NEB/USC game in Lincoln in '07.  Who does that? Carroll was getting sloppy. The game should have been a terrific blow-out against a poorly coached Bill Callahan team but USC only won 49-31. Sure, that's solid. But the Huskers had no business scoring 31 and suddenly USC looked vulnerable in some far off way. Still, they only lost three games (all were close) in the next two years and won two Rose Bowls.

Then the wheels came off in '09 when ORE and STAN blew the Trojans' doors off. Luckily for Pete, he silently put out the word that he would be available to the NFL and Paul Allen took the bait, right before the NCAA set the sinker.

By the way, NEB fans are the best. I have never enjoyed myself anywhere with an opposing group of fans as much as I did in Lincoln. What a place. Now, that's a football town and Cornhusker hospitality is unreal.

Congrats by the way to your Ducks. The monkey's off your backs and it was a great win and well-deserved. Doesn't it feel great!
