He burped up Stanford but ND and Ohio State

Were solid games, where he did things that were way beyond most freshman' capability. That's the truth as I see it. Other than really one god-awful game against Stanford, I thought he played very well, at least the scoreboard, stats and record tell me that. I also listen to experts that marvel at the throws he makes. The guy puts the ball in places other qbs just can't. Right now if I were to rank the qb's in the Pac Ten I'd give Locker the nod with maybe Luck next, then Barkley followed by Folles but really that could all change come year's end. I don't know what Luck can do without Gerhart to generate 50% of the offense as well as points. I don't know what Folles can do against an SC team that doesn't lay down as they did at the end of the year and I don't know what Barkley can do with a legit run game and true pass-protection. So far, I'd say he's not the golden child as some project but he's also one of the elite qbs (or will be) in the nation come the end of his college career. Will he be a great pro? Probably not because his frame will limit his mobility as he fills out but will he be a great college qb? I think without a doubt he will, if Lane and company can keep the surrounding cast around him talented enough to carry their own weight. I also like Barkley's character. Rather have him then most kids out there.
