I think I'd rather have Lane not be desperate for athletes and tolerate their lack of committment on and off the field, be it inthe classroom or rehab room than the way some coaches, perhaps even CRN, keep trying to find ways to let guys stick around; see Hasiak as an example at Ucla. Just my feeling. I like the line in the sand Lane's drawn and I like seeing the team start to define itself. This is his program for now, best to create it in his image if he wants to succeed at SC.
So he motivates by challenging. Why not? I don't quite see it as throwing the kid under the bus the way you do. He wants champs not chumps and kids either step up to his program or they move on. That's what it's all about being a head coach to me.
