Actually, the Westwooders would be better off as UTLA. Then they would be part of the University of Texas system.
Texas is far better off financially than California. They would have better state support.
This would save overdrawn California a lot of tax money, UTLA would have a larger budget than the current UCLA.
However, would that mean that the Californians who now go to UCLA would be considered "out of state" and have to pay out of state fees and those who are there from Texas would be considered "instate" and not have to pay the current "out of state fees.
Texas is well off, so they could afford another campus for the University of Texas.
