there are no divisions for basketball but the scheduling was done by the pods system.
the pods are...
1. Wash/WSU, Oreg/OSU
2. Cal/Stan, UCLA/USC
3. Ariz/ASU, Colo/Utah
it's an 18-game schedule. you play everyone once. you then play everyone in your pod, a 2nd time. and you also play 1 set from each of two remaining pods. i think it works out great.
example:
USC (plays everyone once) plays Cal, Stanford & UCLA a 2nd time, as well as Wash/WSU and Ariz/ASU. they skip a 2nd game vs the Oregon schools and Utah/Colorado schools.
Stanford skips a 2nd game vs the Washington schools and a 2nd game vs the Arizona schools. they play Oregon schools and Utah/Colorado twice (as well as Cal, UCLA & USC).
expansion to 16 schools will likely follow this scheduling model, imo.
fwiw, USC's schedule is pretty tough and it's finally an attractive interesting schedule. great home lineup...
