Big problem is at 3B where Uribe and Hairston are on the DL.
Rivera now too. And Kemp. There is a 5th, don't remember who.
On the plus side, Harrang, Lilly and Capuano have been amazing. When you get that performance out of your back 3? Incredible. Those are all bargain basement picthers. Cap and Lilly were a combined 10-0 at one point. That's ridiculous.
Very lucky to have Janzen be able to close and even Guerra has been functional in spot duty and can be useful. Set up men are good, Bellisario is a good additional arm. They are actually adding arms, not losing them.
It's two months in, and the Dodgers have had no arm injuries. Starting rotation is uber thin and can't afford any, but so far so good. They could be the Pads. I mean, wasn't that whole team decimated and they weren't good to begin with?
So LA's benefitted greatly from wonderful and healthy pitching. The offense is weakening by teh day, though. Also not spoken of much is that LA is a good defensive team. Not flashy, but good. Loney, Ellis, Kempt, Ethier. Solid fielders. Gordon's a rook, he'll come along. For them to do so well with a rookie at SS and able to be quiet and develop bodes well for the future. Seems like each year LA is inserting a new youngster into the lineup and that helps greatly. Perhaps Sands will come up to speed at some point. Loney, Ethier, Kemp, Gordon. And in the staff, Bills, Janzen, Kershaw. All good solid young players they are bringing up from the farm.
Add some money to the mix and Stan Kasten? This teams future looks bright
